How do I motivate my child?

Feeling secure and confident and having new things to explore are at the heart of feeling motivated. There are different strategies that you can use that can help too. Getting it all working well can take time and practice. Showing them that YOU find learning interesting and exciting can also be a key way of motivating them. Not quite sure where to start with Maths?

Maths learning HAS to be based on what a child understands already and relies a lot on going at your child's pace. Check out our website section that gives you some pointers on how to help.

How exactly do children learn?

Learning is complex, but children do it naturally. We need to get them excited and help them develop, but your child is programmed to do it! We offer coaching sessions on How Children Learn, where you can develop your understanding and think more about your role in supporting their learning.

How do I make home learning interesting?

Doing lots of different stuff! There are so many different answers to that question, it’s hard to know where to start. There are a huge variety of ways that learning can be made enjoyable. We will give you plenty of ideas to start you off and give you confidence. We can tell you now though, you and your children will not be sitting at a table learning the suffixes they need to turn a verb into a noun. We like to keep things active and engaging!

Where do I get good resources for learning at home?

There are so many learning resources available, but you can manage a lot of great learning without spending a small fortune. We give you ideas on activities that you can do, usually with resources you can access locally or may find easily and cheaply. If you sign up with us, we will give you a copy of our workbook and in that there are ideas on such things as how to provide Maths resources that are cheap and helpful.

How do I decide what my child needs to learn?

There is some guidance available from the government, but to be honest you get to make a lot of the decisions about it. If you sign up with us, we will talk to you in detail about this and help you to decide where to start. In our workbook, we also give you plenty of chance to think deeply about this important question.
